Šventoji Cliff Viewpoint

Palanga, Klaipėda1-2 hoursBest: Summer evenings for sunsets

A hidden coastal viewpoint near the fishing village of Šventoji, where low cliffs meet the Baltic Sea, offering uninterrupted sunset views that most tourists miss entirely.

While most visitors to Lithuania's coast head to the busy resort of Palanga, the small fishing village of Šventoji to the north offers a quieter, more authentic coastal experience. The cliffs near Šventoji, though modest in height, provide a perfect natural grandstand for some of the Baltic coast's most beautiful sunsets. The viewpoint is reached by a short walk from the village through dune grasslands and coastal scrub. From the cliff edge, the Baltic Sea stretches to the horizon, and on clear evenings, the sunset paints the sky in shades of amber and gold that rival anything on the Mediterranean. Šventoji itself is a charming fishing village with a small harbor, traditional smokehouses, and a laid-back atmosphere worlds away from Palanga's busy boardwalk. The area is also rich in amber — after storms, amber hunters comb the beaches here before the crowds arrive from further south.

Why Visit

A peaceful alternative to crowded Palanga with some of Lithuania's finest sunset views. The authentic fishing village atmosphere is a bonus.
