Šilutė Hugo Scheu Manor

Hugo Scheu Manor in Šilutė is one of the finest surviving examples of Germanic manor architecture in Lithuania Minor — the historically distinct coastal region where Lithuanian and German cultures intertwined for centuries. Built in the late 19th century, the manor was the home of Hugo Scheu, a prominent local figure and collector of Lithuanian cultural artifacts. The manor now houses a museum dedicated to the history and culture of Lithuania Minor and the Klaipėda Region. Exhibits cover the unique bilingual heritage of the region, the dramatic population changes of the 20th century, and Scheu's personal collection of maps, photographs, and artifacts.
