Raudonė Castle
Jurbarkas, Tauragė1-1.5 hoursBest: April to October
A striking red-brick castle with a tall Renaissance tower overlooking the Nemunas River — part of Lithuania's scenic Castle Road and home to panoramic views.
Raudonė Castle is one of the most visually striking castles in Lithuania. Its tall, slender Renaissance tower — rising to 33 meters — dominates the Nemunas valley skyline and provides spectacular views over the river and surrounding countryside. The red-brick castle, built in the 16th century and subsequently modified, combines Renaissance and neo-Gothic elements in a romantic ensemble.
The castle is part of the Panemunė Castle Road scenic route along the Nemunas River and has recently been restored as a cultural venue. The tower climb is the highlight — from the top, the Nemunas stretches away in great curves, the forests extend to the horizon, and on clear days the view is genuinely breathtaking. The castle park, descending to the riverside, adds to the scenic experience.
