Kurtuvėnai Regional Park
Šiauliai district, ŠiauliaiHalf dayBest: May to October
A scenic regional park in northern Lithuania known for its manor house, horse riding trails, diverse forests, and unique karst sinkholes hidden among rolling hills.
Kurtuvėnai Regional Park protects a beautiful landscape of forests, hills, and wetlands between Šiauliai and the Samogitian highlands. The park is centered around the historic Kurtuvėnai Manor, which has been restored as a visitor center offering horse riding, nature trails, and cultural events.
The park's terrain is unusually varied for Lithuania, with gentle hills, deep ravines, and unexpected karst features where the underlying limestone has dissolved to create sinkholes and depressions. The forests include old-growth stands of oak and hornbeam that are rare in this part of Lithuania.
