Krekenava Regional Park Viewpoint
Panevėžys, Panevėžys1-2 hoursBest: May to October
A viewpoint in central Lithuania's most scenic regional park, offering panoramic views over the Nevėžis River valley — a landscape of river bluffs, forests, and traditional farmsteads.
Krekenava Regional Park protects one of central Lithuania's most scenic landscapes — the deep valley carved by the Nevėžis River through rolling morainic hills. The park's viewpoint offers panoramic vistas over the river valley, with its steep forested bluffs, winding riverbanks, meadows, and scattered traditional farmsteads.
The Nevėžis River is one of Lithuania's most important cultural symbols — frequently referenced in literature and song. The viewpoint allows visitors to understand why: the river landscape here is genuinely dramatic by Lithuanian standards, with the valley cutting 30-40 meters below the surrounding plateau. Hiking trails descend through the forest to the riverbanks, and the park supports diverse wildlife including deer, foxes, and numerous bird species.
