Europa Park Open-Air Museum
Vilnius, Vilnius2-3 hoursBest: April to November
An open-air sculpture park at the geographical center of Europe — featuring works by artists from around the world in a forest setting that marks Europe's continental midpoint.
The Europos Parkas is one of Lithuania's most significant contemporary art destinations. Located at what French geographers calculated in 1989 to be the geographical center of Europe, this 55-hectare open-air museum in the forest near Vilnius houses over 100 sculptures by artists from 33 countries.
The collection includes monumental works — the most famous being 'LNK Infotree' by Gintaras Karosas, a massive sculpture of a TV set screen made from thousands of old television sets, entered into the Guinness Book of Records. Other works range from subtle land art to dramatic installations, all integrated into the natural forest landscape. The park's central concept — art marking the center of a continent — makes it both a cultural and geographical pilgrimage.
