Belvederis Mound Viewpoint
Kaunas, Kaunas1 hourBest: Year-round, best May-October
A dramatic hilltop viewpoint where the Nemunas and Neris rivers meet, offering one of the finest panoramas in Lithuania — where two great rivers become one.
The Belvederis Mound offers what many consider Lithuania's most dramatic river panorama. From this elevated vantage point east of Kaunas, you can watch the Neris River flow into the mighty Nemunas — a confluence of Lithuania's two greatest rivers that has been a strategically and spiritually significant site for millennia.
The viewpoint sits on a hillfort mound that was fortified in medieval times, and the sweeping views explain why. From here, the river landscape extends in every direction — forested banks, oxbow lakes, flooded meadows, and the distant spires of Kaunas. In autumn, the surrounding forests blaze with color, and in spring, the rivers flood dramatically.
Why Visit
Perhaps the single finest river view in Lithuania. Watching two great rivers merge in a sweeping panorama is a moment of genuine geographic drama.
